Jamie Dimon

Jamie Dimon was born on March 13, 1956, at New York, U.S. He is an American business executive and also a chairman and CEO of one of the four largest banks in America, JPMorgan Chase. Previously, he also served as the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. His educational qualification is Master of Business Administration which is completed in Harvard Business School. During 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011 years, Time magazine included Jamie’s name in the “list of the world’s 100 most influential people”.

From 2008 to 2011 years, he was selected in Institutional Investor’s lists as one of the best CEOs in the All-America Executive Team survey. The University of Oxford describes Jamie’s leadership style as paradigmatic of “Founder Centrism” which means the founder’s mindset, ethics towards the shareholders and a deep focus on exponential value creation.

Jamie is one of the few billionaires among the bank chief executives in part to a US$485 million stake in JPMorgan Chase. In 2011, he received $23 million as pay package which is the high amount among the other bank CEO in the United States. In the 2013 year, he received $20 million as compensation for his work. He gained $29.5 million in 2017.

Career

Sandy Weill who is the owner of American Express wants to leave that American express in 1985. Then Jamie followed him. They two together took over commercial credit, a consumer finance company from control data. Jamie‘s role is the chief financial officer who helps to turn the company around. During a weekend executive retreat, Weill asked Jamie to resign his job. So, he left the Citigroup in November 1998.

In March 2000, Jamie became CEO of the nation’s fifth largest bank which is Bank One. In July 2004, JPMorgan Chase purchased the Bank One and then Jamie became president and chief operating officer of the combined company. In 2005, on December 31, he became CEO of that company and on December 31, 2006, he named as Chairman and President.

In March 2008, he became a Class A board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. By the enormous leadership of Jamie, with the acquisitions during his tenure, JPMorgan Chase became one of the leading banks in the U.S in domestic assets under management, market capitalization value, and publicly traded stock value. In 2009, he was considered as one of “The TopGun CEOs” by an advisory agency Brendan Wood International.

On May 10, 2012, JPMorgan Chase reported a loss of at least $2 billion in trades, then Jamie answered that they were designed to hedge the bank’s overall credit risks. This episode was investigated by the SEC, FBI and the Federal Reserve and the central act named the epithet as the London Whale. On January 24, 2014, Jamie received $20 million for his work in the year 2013.

On October 28, 2008, Jamie as the head of JPMorgan Chase transferred $25 billion as funds for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to help troubled assets related to residential mortgages, which was the fifth largest amount received to TARP.

In Political Endeavors, after the Obama won the 2008 presidential election, being he was the president of Federal Reserve Bank Of New York, some meetings are conducted by him with some people including three CEOs. In some situations, Jamie refused Obama’s decisions and finally, Obama appreciated Jamie as the best banker.
