Henry Ford is American captain of industry, a business magnate, own an aeroplane company, the founder of the Ford Motor Company and also the sponsor for the development of the assembly line technique of mass production. Henry Ford’s birth was on July 30, 1863, and death was on April 7, 1947. He developed the first automobile which can afford by even middle-class Americans by converting the expensive motor to reasonable rates. In 1891, Henry worked as an engineer in the Edison Illuminating Company Of Detroit. In 1893, he was promoted as Chief Engineer, and then he had some enough time and money to show attention on his experiments on gasoline engines. In the result of his enormous experiments, he manufactured a self-propelled vehicle named as Ford Quadricycle in 1896.
On June 4, the Quadricycle was test-droved by Henry. After several test drives, he is analyzing to improve the Quadricycle. In 1896, Henry met Thomas Edison in the meeting of Edison executives, then Edison admired Ford’s automobile experimentation and encouraged him. By his encouragement, Henry designed a second vehicle in1898. After resigning from the Edison company, he founded the Detroit Automobile Company on August 5, 1899.
The automobiles produced there were of low quality with the highest price than the expectation of Ford. Eventually, Henry’s automobile company was dispersed in January 1901. In October 1901, with the help of C. Harold Wills, Henry designed and successfully raced a 26-horsepower automobile. By this achievement, Murphy and other stockholders of Detroit Automobile Company formed the Henry Ford Company with Henry as chief engineer. It was held on November 30, 1901.
In 1902, Henry left the company bearing his name, and the company was renamed as Cadillac Automobile Company by the Murphy. After that, by joining with racing cyclist Tom Cooper, Henry produced the 80+ horsepower racer “999.” In October 1902 and drive victory in a race. Henry and Alexander Y. Malcomson, a Detroit-area coal Dealer, combined formed “Ford & Malcomson Ltd” to manufacture automobiles. Then Henry established a newly designed car on the ice of Lake St. Clair which drives 1 mile (1.6 km) in 39.4 seconds and setting a new land speed record at 91.3 miles per hour(146.9 km/hr).
By this success, Barney Oldfield, the race a driver named this new car as new Ford model “999” in honor of the first the locomotive of the day. On October 1, 1908, Henry introduced the <em>Model T. It had a steering wheel on the left, which was copied by all other companies soon. The entire engine and transmission were enclosed, and the four cylinders were cast in a solid block and used two semi-elliptic springs. The car was simple looking, easy to drive and cheap to repair. It costs very cheap at $825 in 1908($23,010 today).
By 1920, the majority of American drivers learned to drive on Model T. In December 1927, Henry introduced Ford Model A and produced through 1931 with a total output of more than 4 million. On January 5, 1914, he surprised the world by offering a $5 per day wage ($130 today) Which is double the rate of his workers.
During World War 1, he entered the aviation business building Liberty engines. In 1925, he acquired the Stout Metal Airplane Company. His most successful aircraft was the Ford 4AT Trimotor, later called the Tin Goose. It was first flown on June 11, 1926, and was first successful U.S. passenger airline. In September 1945, due to the failing of his health, he ceded the company presidency to his grandson, Henry Ford II and takes retirement.
